July 5, 2011 9:20am
Blountville, TN. – Every year, the second weekend of July, riders from over 20 states find their way to Northeast Tennessee for the Tennessee State Motocross Championship. This year it’s July 8-9-10 at Muddy Creek Raceway for the 27th annual KAWASAKI Team Green TENNESSEE State MX Championship.
The event is open to all riders, but there is always a large showing of Kawasaki riders. Kawasaki has one of the largest rider support programs (TEAM GREEN) in the industry and several riders who get factory support. Ryan Holliday is the Motocross Manager for Kawasaki’s Team Green and will be making the trip here from California.
Holliday says "This has always been a great event for Kawasaki. The support of our dealers in this region has been outstanding and the Victory Sports staff always runs a first class event. It's a great opportunity for Team Green to interact with these dealers and assist all of the Kawasaki customers in attendance."
Kawasaki support rider Jacob Hayes will be one of the odds on favorite in the pro classes. The Jamestown, NC rider is a threat to win anywhere he goes and is familiar with the Muddy Creek track. At last year’s state championship he fell one moto of the 250 pro class and finished up 6th place. He came back and took the win in the 450 pro class over Kawasaki mounted Jacob Saylor from Knoxville, TN. This year’s competition will be tough with big fields in both pro classes. The event is also an AMA Pro-Am point paying event which brings riders from all parts of the nation seeking the valuable pro-am points.
Calhoun, Georgia’s Bogen Cochran rode his Kawasaki to class wins in the 250 B and 450 B classes last year. These “B” classes are the next step down from the pro class and are very competitive. The top 3 in the “B” class are fast enough to run in the top 10 in the pro class. Fast riders and exciting racing.
This event will be a double header weekend for the THOR United States Mega Series paying points both Saturday & Sunday. Racing gets underway Saturday and Sunday at 9:30am, rain or shine.
The 27th annual KAWASAKI Team Green TENNESSEE State MX Championship presented by TOYOTA of KINGSPORT at Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, TN – July 8-9-10.
