Mototown USA Roof Collapse
Mototown USA is closed for good. Yesterday, February 7th, 2011, the roof collapsed due to heavy snow. The building, opened in 2006, has been the Northeast's winter haven for Motocross. Each year they somehow are able to open the building and get the riders the time they need to stay on their game for the spring time. 2011 would be no different. Xtreme Motocross Series, LLC sanctioned a winter supercross series and one outdoor race date. January 22nd, 2011 racing got started in a big way in this 200,000 sq ft free span building. Mototown USA had the biggest turnout for any race since they opened in 2006 this year with XMS at the helm. Round 2 was scheduled for this coming weekend, Saturday Feb 12th, 2011. That will never be. Since the roof collapsed, it is almost certain that we will not see Mototown USA reopen for a long time, if at all.
Jamie Slaughter, President and Founder of Xtreme MX Series, LLC stated, "Xtreme MX Series would like to thank all the riders, spectators, sponsors, employees, and anyone who have helped get this season going. We are so sad about what has happened, but thank god no one was hurt or killed. There were 140 riders there yesterday, including my 11 year old son. It could have been very bad for us all. All I have to say is Thank God."
Xtreme MX Series will start their outdoor season in a few months. We will be ready.
