New AX Team Fueled by Blair Brothers’

AURORA, Ill. – A pair of new faces are bursting onto the AMA Arenacross Series scene in 2011, driven by a passion for dirt bike racing as well as a desire to perform music for the masses. The Main Event is a term synonymous with the sport of arenacross and appropriately enough, it is the name of the band led by a pair of brothers who happen to be very fast on a motorcycle.
Daniel and Vincent Blair have become familiar faces in the privateer ranks of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, over the last few years. However, the Northern California-based duo making the transition to the AMA Arenacross Series for the upcoming season with their MainEventRock.com Honda team.
“Fun and safety were our biggest reasons for making the move,” said Vincent, the younger of the two brothers. “Injuries have put a huge toll on Daniel and I in recent years. We also believe we have what it takes to challenge for the championship this season.”
The duo have been stalwarts in the sport since the middle of the decade and even made a foray into the AMA Arenacross Series during the 2007 season. That year, despite being behind in readying the team to compete, they were able to find some success.
“Back in 2007 we raced arenacross, but we were a little behind to start because there wasn’t much time to prepare,” added Blair. “We did pretty good considering that. I was able to get on the podium and I’m pretty sure Daniel was right there with a top five. Over the years whenever a race was in (Sacramento) or Reno, we tried to be there.”
Blair continued, “The local races are going to be a lot of fun. There will be tons of family and friends and at the end of the night, we’re going to perform at an after party.”
The music is the lifeblood of the MainEventRock.com team. What started out as a fun side project has turned into a full fledged effort that will ultimately support this season’s racing efforts.
“We played music (for fun),” said Blair. “Then we decided to write songs that weren’t just fast paced, but also helped pump us up to race. This team allows us to tie those two things together and focus on our band more.
“We have an EP coming out in a couple of weeks and our plan is to use the sales from that CD as a budget for our team. We’re also going to have a couple young local riders competing in the Lites West Region with us and all of us together will travel to the races.”
While the team is still looking for additional help, there is little doubt that both Daniel and Vincent Blair are putting everything they have into the 2011 AMA Arenacross Series Championship. And one can rest assure that the siblings are going to have a lot of fun along the way.
“Everyone (in the series) wants to win,” concluded Vincent. “We want to win too and we’re doing everything it takes. Arenacross is really intense. It’s high paced with intense and close battles, so we’re working on trying to be consistent. We won’t know until after first round.”
