Taco Bell®, Dubach Racing and Bridgestone to support pro and amateur riders in Michigan SuperMoto Championship
Linden, Mich. – Taco Bell® is asking racing fans to “Think Outside The Bun®," or more appropriately think outside the lines of the typical motorcycle racing event, by attending the Michigan SuperMoto Championship round two, presented by Taco Bell, at the Ogemaw Heights High School parking lot in West Branch, Michigan on Thursday, July 15. There will be a $750 cash purse for the Open Class at this event. Taco Bell is joined as a series sponsor by Dubach Racing Development (DR.D), that returns for the third-straight year, new contingency sponsor Bridgestone, and a number of returning and new supporting sponsors.
In an effort for racing fans to give back to the surrounding communities, a portion of the proceeds from all three Michigan SuperMoto Championship rounds will benefit the efforts of ABATE Michigan Region 20. ABATE is American Bikers Aiming Towards Education.
The second round of the series, the “Taco Bell Ogemaw Hills SuperMoto Race,” as part of the long-running Ogemaw Hills Bike Week, is held at the grounds of Ogemaw Heights High School. In two days, the MISuperMoto crew will build a track on the back parking lot that includes steel jumps and weaves up into the hillside into a dirt section. Pro and amateur racers from around the Midwest and even the East Coast have competed in this event and are expected to race this year. The main events are held under the lights. Due to the fan response last year and Taco Bell’s ability to directly reach consumers via this event, the restaurant chain increased its sponsorship this year. Many Northern Michigan Taco Bells will advertise this event beginning next month.
Dean Arbour Ford returns as a supporting sponsor for round two. The West Branch, Michigan dealership will showcase its Ford vehicles at the race and is supporting the Open Class purse. Joining MISuperMoto’s new community giving effort, Dean Arbour Ford is selecting a few fortunate Junior Achievement youth to learn the business side of running a race series by shadowing the event organizers at round two.
DR.D has supported MISuperMoto the past three seasons beginning with the MISuperMoto X in 2008 and then last year with the inaugural Michigan SuperMoto Championship. As a result more and more supermoto competitors have been using DR.D exhausts. Similar to Taco Bell, DR.D is increasing its support this year by offering the Michigan SuperMoto Open Class Champion a Pro-Level Sponsorship package. The package includes a complete titanium exhaust, DR.D swag and a full bike sticker kit. Due to this support, the class is now titled as “DR.D presents the Michigan SuperMoto Championship Open Class.” DR.D continues to see the value in supermoto as the competitors tend to also ride motocross and off-road.
Bridgestone recognizes the opportunity to capture the supermoto tire market and hopes to make significant headway via the Michigan SuperMoto Championship. Bridgestone is supporting series competitors by offering contingency dollars to the top three finishers in each class at every round when the racers run Bridgestone tires. To further provide assistance, Bridgestone will have its full race semi at each of the three rounds to sell supermoto tires and offer technical support. In addition, the third-place series finisher in the Open Class will receive a set of Bridgestone supermoto slicks. Bridgestone is now the official tire of the Michigan SuperMoto Championship and MISuperMoto.
“We’ve been working on ramping-up this series to ensure that this our supermoto races are the ones every rider wants to participate in,” said Dave Duprey, owner of MISuperMoto. “It’s fantastic for us here in Michigan to secure a sponsor at the mainstream level of Taco Bell and have it increase support over last year. We are happy that Dean Arbour Ford is back for round two. We are pumped that DR.D returns with even more support. DR.D has been so good to us for the past three years and besides Taco Bell, they were a priority in making certain they continue our partnership. It’s evidence the value in the series to secure Bridgestone this year for both the races and our Test and Tune Days. With all this and the new charity benefit with ABATE, there is no reason you should miss these races, whether you’re a competitor or a fan looking for a great show.”
The Michigan SuperMoto Championship has a number of supporting sponsors this season. Speed Technologies MX will provide a free suspension service to one lucky competitor to be determined. Woody's Cycle of Tawas, Michigan will provide a set of gear to the Amateur Class winner at round two. Silkolene will provide gift certificates. Midwest Motorcyclist provides free ad space in its publication, which it has done for MISuperMoto for several years. MagnumDistributing.com is offering support. Finally, the series Open Class second-place finisher will receive a one-year membership to MISuperMoto 2011 season events valued at $665.
