TEAM TAKES SIXTH CONSECUTIVE PODIUM
ROUND 6 - ANGEL STADIUM, ANAHEIM, CA - FEBRUARY 13TH
LOS ANGELES, CA - Last night at the final Anaheim stop of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, before a packed house of 34,227 fans, Team San Manuel Yamaha's Josh Hill took his fourth consecutive second-place podium finish and now sits tied for the number one spot in the championship points race! Teammate and current Supercross Champ, James Stewart, sidelined due to wrist surgery to repair a broken scaphoid, served as a guest commentator in the broadcast booth, alongside Ralph Sheheen and Jeff Emig, for the CBS television race coverage, which aired yesterday at 9:00 AM PST/12:00 NOON EST.
Mild Southern California weather, with evening temps in the 50's, set the stage for near perfect race conditions with track conditions some riders described as a “one-line track.” Hill's Saturday evening started with a great holeshot nabbing Heat Race 2, remaining out front for the entire heat and taking the win for the direct transfer to the main.
In the Main Event, Hill blasted out of the gate with the top three riders and passed second-placed Davi Millsaps, on the second lap, to take over the second place spot - the position he'd maintain for the remaining 19 laps. Hill's second place podium finish, marks the sixth consecutive podium finish, in six races, for Team San Manuel.
Post-race, Hill had this to say about tying up the championship points race “This is pretty amazing! The progress I am making with my riding right now is because my Yamaha and my team are just so solid….if I ever feel like I'm a little off, I know that Larry Brooks and the entire San Manuel team will pull me through. My riding is consistent and getting better each and every week!”
During the CBS television coverage, James Stewart had this to say when asked about his teammate's chase for the championship, “I think Josh could do it…he's fast, he has the lap times to prove it and I think he will start winning races real soon.”
