Racer X has learned that Chad Reed will have surgery today on his broken left hand. He will have a plate inserted to repair a break in the middle of his hand, according to a source in his camp. He will be out for at least six weeks and hopes to return to race in the series some time in the second half. Before then, he plans on coming back to the races to meet fans and represent his team with appearances in the pits.
“Everything happens for a reason,” says Reed through a source within his camp. “We were just starting to get things going, but we’ll take the time we need and I’ll come back strong and healthy.”
Reed was also relieved to hear that the penalty he might have incurred in Phoenix had been overturned. Expect to see the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider in the pits soon, but it will be a little longer until he gets back on the track.
