Cole Siebler Wins German Supercross

(Press release)
With the German ADAC Supercross Circus heading to Chemnitz in the east of Germany for Round 2 of the series,
some of the new riders didn’t really know what would expect them. The tiny track with four small lanes and lots of jumps was a real challenge for the riders.
Friday started with a win by Cole Siebler in his first qualification race, in front of the German Daniel Siegl and Jeff Northrop. Only Ben Evans and Randall Everett had to go to the last chance for the semi finals, where Evans took the chance with a win. Again Siebler won his semi race in front of the French Loic Rombaut and Ben Evans. The second semi final was won by Jason Thomas in front of Teddy Maier and the French Florent Richier. Unfortunately the second semi had to be red-flagged due to a heavy crash by Jacob Marsack, who was fighting for the last possible place to go directly to the final. Marsack crashed in a difficult jump section, where he hit one of the jumps, flying straight off his bike and landing on his chest. He was rushed to hospital where they confirmed no fractures, but a heavily bruised sternum. Siebler showed such a consistency that it was no big surprise that he won the final on Friday in front of Jason Thomas with Ben Evans third completing the US podium on that first event day.
Unfortunately Tiger Lacey and Travis Sewell, who both rode really well in Stuttgart, didn’t qualify for the final as they seemed to have difficulties in getting used to these kind of tight track.
Saturday just showed the same picture, as it was Siebler again showing his fantastic winning spirit. Actually all qualification races were won by Americans: Siebler, Maier and Lacey. Both semi races went to Americans too and the fight Siebler – Lacey seemed to come up again.
The podium on Friday was again pure American. Siebler won in front of Lacey and Thomas, even though it had to be red-flagged in round 13 after a heavy crash of Ben Evans. Evans who had a bad start came from behind and his bike slipped jumping off a double. He jumped off the bike and crashed into the landing part with his body. Laying there unconscious for some seconds the race had to be stopped. Luckliy he walked off the track after some minutes with a deep cut in his chin. A perfect weekend for Cole Siebler made him ‘King of Chemnitz’.
‘I remember in my first year coming here to Chemnitz I didn’t even qualify for the finals. So I really know how difficult it is to get used to the track in such a short time,’ said Siebler. ‘We will fly home on Monday ... hopefully all of us, as my teammates in the German Meyer Honda Team Jake Marsack and Ben Evans ended up in hospital.’
