SX Stuttgart Night 2 Report
Saturday was another hot racing day in the Stuttgart Supercross Arena. In the sold-out sports palace the crowd went crazy as the riders lined up for the first qualifying race.
And again it was Cole Siebler who jumped of the gate out front and took and easy win to qualify for the semi final followed by Jason Thomas and Teddy Maier. But also Tiger Lacey won his qualifying race in front of his fellow countrymen Brown and Voss and showed easily that he has his focus on the win of the day. Very surprising Travis Sewell showed an amazing speed all weekend long and took the win of his qualifying race followed by the French 250 2-stroke rider Soubeyras and German SX-star Daniel Siegl.
Last US-rider to continue his way to the final was Jacob Marsack who had to go again through the last chance race. So 11 of 15 US riders qualified for the semi finals and these should be some tough ones.
To the joy of the crowd the German rider Manuel Chittaro took the holeshot and led the semi final to the finish without giving any chance to Maier, Marsack, Siebler or Thomas to take this spectacular win from him. Tiger Lacey had a bad start and was left to go into the last chance race together with Heath Voss, winner of last year, who was not on top of his form yet.
The second semi final was definitely a French one with Richier winning in front of Soubeyras and the Rouis. Sewell and Northrop both also qualified directly for the final.
The last hot available places for the final went to Lacey and Esposti and kept the challenge still open between Siebler and him.
But when the gate for the final dropped it was neither Tiger Lacey nor Cole Siebler in front, but Travis Sewell who took the holeshot followed by Lacey. While Sewell seemed to go easily for his first ever win in a German Supercross event, Siebler had to fight his way through the pack which proofed to be quite a difficult one on that narrow track. Sewell made a small mistake in a corner and fell. While Sewell’s bike didn’t want to restart again Lacey took over the lead in front of Jason Thomas and Teddy Maier and this is how they saw the checkered flag. Siebler ended on forth position which was sufficient for him to be the total winner of the weekend.
Cole Siebler: “Racing in Stuttgart is great. I like the track and like this dirt.”
Teddy Maier: “ I’m really happy that I’ve been on the podium today. The start is very important on tracks like that and the starting gate placed on that jump was really strange for me. Yesterday I couldn’t even qualify for the semi final, so I’m even more happy for today’s result. I’m looking forward to the next event to come.”
