Memorial Service for Kathy Spann

Kathy V. Spann, lovingly known as “Kat” passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Her life was characterized by gutsiness, devotion to family and generosity. Kat was born into a large family that settled in the idealic pacific northwest. While studying journalism in college, she met her husband, Gregory Spann. They were married June 12, 1971 and moved to Texas. She is survived by Greg, their sons Jeremy and Travis and grandsons Elijah and Silas. Kathy is also survived by her mother Sheala Anderson, her four siblings, an extended family and countless friends; all who loved her dearly.
Kat was the owner of TXMX News, a local motorcross newspaper that she took national and rebranded as Southern Dirt Bike. She became legendary in a sport dominated by men. She earned her reputation by her tenacity, energy, ability to make friends with ease,and knowledge of the sport. She was an expert journalist.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on August 22, 2009 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, 5001 Crestline Rd, 76107. Following will be a celebration of life with refreshments.
