Las Vegas, NV – In one of the most impressive races and photo finishes the sport has seen Red Bull/KTM rider Taddy Blazusiak edged out current number one plate holder Ricky Dietrich for the win at the season opener of the AMA EnduroCross Series.

Blazusiak nailed the holeshot at the start of the event and led the first lap of the race. Dietrich was right behind him on the start followed by Colton Haaker. Blazusiak settled into the lead and at one point had a 4 second lead on Dietrich. However, that was short-lived when a mistake in the water section put Blazusiak on the ground losing his position.

A mistake by Dietrich with two laps to go handled the lead to the unexpected Shock Doctor/KTM ride of Mike Brown. “I had a horrible start since I had a bad gate pick and after crashing myself and seeing all the other riders down, I didn’t event know I was in the lead,” commented Brown.

Blazusiak and Dietrich continued to charge toward Brown with one lap to go. Dietrich came by and passed Brown first as the white flag came out. Shortly after, Blazusiak passed Brown and began to move toward Dietrich. The two riders came to the rock section and both got held up. Blazusiak escaped first and pinned it to the finish line to take the win over Dietrich by only inches. Brown finished 3rd overall followed by Geoff Aaron and Colton Haaker.

“It’s all about racing and that’s why I love it,” stated Blazusiak from the podium. “If my goal was not to win, I could stay at home.”
