Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel 2nd
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Christophe Pourcel (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) played it cool at Millville’s (Minn.) Spring Creek MX Park this past weekend, riding to a podium 2nd place overall placing with a 2nd/2nd two-moto finish at round seven of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA MX Nationals.
With the effort Pourcel held onto his lead in the 250 points class standings, though he did see it shrink a bit to overall Millville winner Ryan Dungey. Through seven (of 12) rounds Pourcel holds onto a three-point margin over Dungey, 199-196.
“We still have a lot of racing to go,” said Pourcel, adding that he’s been having a great time racing all of these tracks that, up to this point, he’d only seen in the magazines and on television.
Rocking a 6th place overall finish (6th/7th) at Millville was Pourcel’s Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate, Jake Weimer. Weimer, who won the previous two rounds heading into Millville (Lakewood, Colo., and RedBud, Mich.), is in 6th place in the overall 250 class standings – just nine points out of the top five.
The Monster Energy-backed MX racers return to action July 25th for the Washougal MX National in Washougal, Wash. For more information of the series link to its website at: www.mxnationals.com
