July 6, 2009 12:58pm
French website Moto Verte is reporting that Tyla Rattray, the 2008 Grand Prix champion, is out for eight weeks after breaking his thumb on Saturday in the second moto at Red Bud, round six of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships. Rattray, who rides for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, finished sixth in the first moto, but then crashed early in the second moto. He was attended by the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center, and x-rays showed that the broken thumb would require surgery. The South African rider, in his first year on the AMA circuit after a half-dozen in Europe, is currently ranked fifth in the series.
