Bridgestone’s Alessi, Pourcel Capture Top Honors
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bridgestone rider Mike Alessi won both motos Saturday to take top honors in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship event at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, Calif. Meanwhile, Christophe Pourcel was the top overall performer in Motocross Lites, as Bridgestone-equipped riders again swept first-place honors.
It was the first victory of the season for Alessi (Rockstar / Makita / Suzuki), and it vaulted him to the top of the Motocross standings after the second of 12 events. Alessi has 92 points, with fellow Bridgestone riders Josh Grant (JGRMX / Toyota / Yamaha) in second with 74 and Chad Reed (Rockstar / Makita / Suzuki) third with 73.
In Motocross Lites, Pourcel (Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki) rode to victory in the first moto and placed third in the second moto to clinch top honors. Ryan Dungey (Rockstar / Makita / Suzuki) won the second moto and placed seventh in the opener to finish third overall for the weekend. Dungey still holds a two-point lead over Pourcel (86-84) atop the Motocross Lites season standings.
The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship series continues this weekend at Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, Texas. A same-day telecast of the Motocross finale airs at 9 p.m. ET Saturday on SPEED.
