Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, the winner of the first round of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, is out of the Hangtown National with an injury.
According to team manager Mike Fisher, Villopoto hurt his knee last Thursday, and although he attempted to race today, he never felt right. At the start of the first moto, he went down in the second turn and had a very difficult time coming back through the pack. Fisher and the rest of the team obviously hope he will be able to race next weekend in Texas, but as of now, even that looks somewhat doubtful. At the least, Villopoto is out for the day. At the most, he's out for the series. We'll find out in the next week or so.
