LOS ANGELES, CA – Team San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart, for the first time this season took a second place podium spot, Saturday night, at the ninth round of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, an FIM World Championship.  Stewart, the 2007 series Champ and the 2008 AMA Motocross Champ, continues to lead the 2009 series championship points due to 09 series wins.

In front of a crowd of more than 61,000 at the brand new state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Stewart blasted out of the gate just short of the holeshot but went down on lap 2.  Stewart quickly remounted and charged through the pack to take the race lead on lap 13.  On lap 16, Stewart went down for the second time but still managed to take the second place podium spot.

“I didn’t think the race would be that good,” said Stewart. “It was a good race, and I made a few mistakes.  Chad deserves to win; he rode great tonight. I felt good tonight and this is the right way to break in Lucas Oil Stadium.”
