Chad Reed Celebrates First Win
Carlsbad, CA – Reigning World / AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed celebrated his first 2009 supercross victory Saturday night among 61,000 screaming fans at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium. Reed, who has seized seven consecutive 2nd place podium finishes, ended his rival’s winning streak after capturing the holeshot and leading the race 18 of 20 laps on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 bike. He heads into the tenth round of the AMA series tied for 1st place in the overall championship points standing and is focused on taking away another win.
“The Rockstar Makita Suzuki Team has been great and I am really happy to get this win for them. This weekend I was able to put myself in a good position by being at the right place at the right time, and it was awesome to be in a position to win. I went into the season feeling strong and then went through a phase where I wasn’t riding as well as I thought I could, so to take this win feels amazing,” said the defending champion.
The next stop of the AMA Series is this Saturday, March 7th, at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Live race coverage will be televised on SPEED TV starting at 5:00pm PST / 8:00pm EST.
Chad Reed would like to thank the following sponsors: Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Thor / Parts Unlimited, Alpinestars and Scott Goggles.
