Freeze X Fest Moved to February 21st and 22nd
Millington, MI – After months of preparing the festival grounds for the 2009 Freeze X Fest event at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, record highs and heavy rain have reduced the once-frozen ground to a soggy sponge. Regardless, the Freeze X Fest crew is reluctant to cancel. In fact, despite the unusually warm weather, Freeze X Fest has pushed their winter action sports event to the following weekend of February 21st and 22nd, 2009.
“All of our features have held up really well! The ice track still has 6 – 8 inches of ice, the rail jam course has a really good base of snow, and the Yamaha demo snocross course is still in great shape as well. Unfortunately, the ground around these features is really soft, and by trying to welcome foot traffic and vendors by Friday would be difficult”, says event promoter Pat Grzebinski. Pat continued to say that despite the added cost and difficulty of moving the event a week, he believes that the weather will make a huge difference in providing the best possible conditions for both the athletes and the spectators.
Along with all the previously planned events ($10,000 Ice Racing Grand National, $3,000 USASA Snowboard Rail Jam, and Freestyle Snocross Exhibition), Soaring Eagle has decided to sweeten the deal by adding an outdoor concert on Sunday at noon featuring Michigan's top local rock band, The Dirty Americans. This and more to an already action packed weekend of high flying thrills and family fun. Moreover, additional vendors are expected to join in on the fun as powersports companies return from the International Powersports Dealer Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana after Valentines Day Weekend.
