Spy Optic's Tucker Hibbert Sweeps His Final Two ACSS
February 9, 2009 5:00pm
CARLSBAD, Calif., – Spy Optic’s Tucker Hibbert had one heck of a winter racing snocross, winning the sports’ premier event – ESPN Winter X Games 13 (for the third-straight time) – and just wrapping up an undefeated season (8-0) in both the Pro Super Stock and Pro Open classes of the 2009 AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS), held this past weekend at Brainerd International Raceway, Minn.
Hibbert was again flawless in the main events, though he did have to come from behind after a not-so-great start in the Pro Super Stock class on Saturday, while also missing (which is rare) Sunday’s holeshot in the premier Pro Open class. Regardless, Hibbert rode onto win – aided in getting through traffic by his Spy Optic Windham signature series Magneto goggles with no-fog lenses – both classes to run his unblemished record to 4-0 in each class, a perfect 8-0 on the season.
“This is unbelievable. I had no idea going into this season that I would be able to win every race,” said Hibbert. “I was shocked after winning everything at the season opener in Duluth (Minn.), then to keep on winning was just awesome. The entire Monster Energy/Arctic Cat crew worked for it. We put in a lot of hours of prep and testing. Arctic Cat built an amazing sled this year so we had a great platform.”
As you read here in an exclusive interview with Hibbert on SpyOptic.com last Friday, despite being undefeated, Hibbert’s through with racing snocross this season and will instead head south to focus on training for motocross with buddies Andrew Short (Texas) and fellow Team Spy Optic racer Kevin Windham in Mississippi. Note: Four rounds remain on the ACSS tour.
“It’s hard walking away from snocross right now but this was my plan from the beginning and I’m okay with that,” he said. “I have a lot of goals in motocross that I really feel I need to chase. I need to thank everyone at Spy and all the fans for their amazing support this season and understanding my decision. I’ll be back in snocross next year but for now, I can’t wait to get on my dirt bike.”
No worries for everyone here at Spy Optic as we’re pumped to see Tucker live the dream, especially when he’s doing it running Spy goggles!
