Unbound Energy’s Dan Reardon Places A Season Best @ A2
CORONA, Calif. – Unbound Energy-backed Dan Reardon (Geico Powersports/Honda) placed a season-best 6th in the AMA SX Lites class this past Saturday at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angel Stadium, the second of three Anaheim rounds on the 2009 Monster Energy/AMA Supercross, and FIM World Championship, tour.
Reardon broke out early, running well in the first heat race and placing 3rd to transfer to the main. From there the Australian got a great gate pick, and an even better start in the main that put him up front with leaders Dungey, Weimer and Morais. Reardon battled for much of the race up front, before giving up a couple spots later in the contest to place 6th.
“Things went real well for the team this week, our best result yet this year,” said Reardon. “I definitely feel the bike was fast enough to be on the podium – which showed with the start I got and the fact I was able to race for some time on the same pace with the leaders. We’ll test some more, get things dialed even better and come back in two weeks in San Francisco.”
As Reardon pointed out the next round of the AMA SX Lites championship switches to the Eastern Region (Houston) where Unbound Energy-backed racers Brett Metcalfe and rookie Blake Wharton will try their hand and putting the Geico Powersports/Hondas up on the ESX podium.
Noteworthy: Unbound Energy’s Trey Canard (Geico Powersports/Honda) did not compete at Anaheim 2 due to the accident he suffered at Phoenix. Canard collided with another rider on a high speed section before a turn and was pinned momentarily under the rider’s bike. Canard is expected to return for the San Francisco round (Jan. 31st).
Round four of the 2009 supercross is scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 24, at Houston’s Reliant Stadium.
