December 16, 2008 1:26pm
Racer X contributor Jim Kimball has been working on a report that Kawasaki GP rider Sebastien Pourcel, winner of the final moto of the 2008 FIM Motocross of Nations, crashed yesterday while practicing in France and reportedly suffered a dislocated hip and shoulder. Pourcel, a likely title contender in 2009 in the MX1 class, is the older brother of Christophe Pourcel, who just missed an entire season due to his own hip injury. Fortunately, Christophe is now working his way back into shape and will compete on the AMA circuit in 2009. Kimball has been in contact with sources in Europe to find out more about Sebastien Pourcel's status. Stay tuned to Racer X Online for more details.

Okay, we dug a little deeper into the reports of Sebastien Pourcel's injury, and our friends at www.motoverte.com set us straight. Pourcel did crash and dislocate his hip and shoulder on Sunday afternoon. According to Stephan Legrand, the French Kawasaki rider was doing a race in Guadeloupe, not France, and he crashed in the first moto of the final race of the Guadeloupe championship.
