Blazusiak Wins Columbus EnduroCross
The day started off well for Blazusiak after he set the fastest lap time in practice on the very fast and difficult course. “There were two hard rock sections that were the only two obstacles that separated the field. Luckily, I found some good lines through them and it helped me to make up time on my competitors,” commented Blazusiak.
Blazusiak won his heat race and received first gate pick for the main event. His teammate, Mike Brown, in only his second EnduroCross event was unable to qualify in his heat race but won his semi in order to make it into the night show.
In the main event, Blazusiak got a good jump off the start line but crashed in the first turn. Christini KTM rider, Geoff Aaron, also suffered from a bad start and was forced to fight his way to the front alongside Blazusiak.
Blazusiak and Aaron stayed close the entire race and by the third lap they were battling for the lead. When the flag flew Blazusiak just edged out Aaron for the win. Kawasaki rider Ricky Dietrich finished third, Brown held on to fourth and KTM rider Colton Haaker rounded out the top five.
“Today was a tough race for me. Geoff (Aaron) made it a fun yet challenging race as we battled from start to finish. It felt great to win today and I hope it carries over to the finale in Las Vegas,” replied Blazusiak.
