TEMECULA, CA (August 22, 2008) As most in the motocross world already know, Matt Goerke made the move to the big bike over the weekend at the Millville national. The Florida kid was definitely there to impress.
He grabbed a decent start in the first moto and moved around big name guys to land himself into fourth place. Unfortunately, Goerke’s moto was plagued with a flat tire. He finished the moto in 9th place.
The second moto looked even more promising for the young rider. He made his way up to second at one point, but collided with the 801 of Jeff Alessi. After he crashed Matt went on to finish seventh in the moto. Needless to say, the seventh place on the day did not do justice for the way Goerke rode the KTM 450SX-F.
“I really like riding the 450. It suits my style, my size, and I am just more comfortable on it. Southwick is one of my favorite tracks, so I’m hoping for a podium next weekend,” Goerke commented on the move. Goerke will be riding in the Motocross class for the rest of the season. He is really hoping to make the move into the premier class for Supercross and Motocross in 2009.
