Agility is one of those athletic traits that is hard to quantify. When you look at an athlete you can just tell if he or she has it. Unfortunately, a lot of motocross athletes and trainers have completely omitted agility training from their repertoire. This is a shame since agility exercises help train the fast twitch muscle fibers needed for better speed, reaction time, and quickness; all of which are important when racing motocross.
In this article, I talk about what it means to be agile and how a rider can add this type of training to a workout either as a complete agility program or as an additional exercise tacked on at the end of a workout. The good news is that the benefits of agility training can be seen quickly and it doesn't take a lot of time to do this type of training. As an added bonus, exercises are done with very little equipment, can be used as a warm-up at the race track and you don't need a gym to do them.
