Monster Energy’s Dusty Klatt & Jeff Gibson Both Make The Top Ten @ Morden
Klatt brings his MX1 class Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki home in 4th place while teammate Gibson overcomes a first moto wreck to place 8th
CORONA, Calif., (June 18, 2008) – Monster Energy-backed Dusty Klatt and Jeff Gibson (Cernic’s/Kawasaki) each made the MX1 class top ten this past weekend at the Morden, Manitoba, round of the 2008 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals.
With a 4th place effort (2-7) Klatt was able to hold onto his 2nd place overall MX1 class position in the standings. Gibson, who finished 8th overall at Morden (13-5), is currently in 10th place overall in the standings.
From the Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki team: In the first MX1 moto, both Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki riders got good starts and rounded the first turn inside the top ten. Klatt charged into second place position while Gibson made contact with another rider and went down. After restarting his motorcycle, Gibson found himself in last place and made his charge to pass as many riders as he could before the end of the moto. Meanwhile, Klatt was putting pressure on the race leader but couldn't make any pass attempt successful. In the end, Klatt settled for a close second and Gibson worked his way up to thirteenth position at the finish line.
Moto two saw the two team riders start near the front of the pack again. Gibson rode one of his best races of the year as he ran away with the lead pack, riding flawlessly. Klatt was riding very aggressive in the same lead pack as he tried to move into the lead position. Unfortunately, his aggressive riding caused him to stall the motorcycle twice moving him towards the back of the pack. Gibson rode to a solid fifth place and Klatt would eventually finish the moto in seventh place.
"Both riders rode good this weekend," said team manager, Derek Sorenson. "However, both riders each had one bad moto so that hurt our results. Dusty continued to ride strong and Jeff had a solid ride, so we'll carry that momentum into the next round."
The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki team will travel to Regina on June
