Freestyle motocross pioneer Clifford Adoptante was arrested on Friday afternoon in Ohio, charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony, and possession of of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony. According to Ohio law, criminal tools are defined as any substance, device, instrument, or article designed or specially adapted for criminal use.
Adoptante was pulled over on Interstate 70 for speeding in a Penske rental truck with Indiana registration just after noon on Friday, when a drug dog uncovered 47 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $132,000. Adoptante was incarcerated at the Preble County Jail, where he was released on a bond of $2,545. If convicted, he faces up to nine years in prison and up to $17,500 in fines.
