Michael LaPaglia Injury Update
Hey guys, I just wanted to give you an update on Michael Lapaglia’s condition after his crash yesterday at the Navy Moto X World Championship. His family’s cell phones have been ringing off the hook, but the good news is that he is going to be OK. He crashed coming out of the whoops during practice and kind of high-sided, slamming his head into the ground. He was unconscious for a short time, which scared a lot of people (especially me when I heard it on the broadcast since I wasn’t there). He was taken immediately to Scripts Mercy, the San Diego Chargers trauma center, where it was determined that he had a bruised kidney and a concussion (obviously). They kept him overnight in the ICU for precautionary measures, and he might stay one more night tonight in a regular non- ICU bed. The whole LaPaglia family wants to say thank you for all of the phone calls, prayers, and well wishers, and they are sorry that they haven’t been able to return everyone’s calls as they have been just overwhelmed with inquires and have not left Michael’s side. I would also like to personally thank event director Tim Reed from ESPN who in a very classy move just visited Michael in the hospital this morning, and also to Eric Peronnard for calling me after it happened (even though I got the message a little late due to being in bed with the flu).
