In the Lites class practice, it was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s
Ryan Villopoto narrowly edging Torco Racing Fuels Honda’s
Josh Grant for the fastest lap honors. Each rider had their share of trouble with the one long whoop section, as the soft dirt is cupping out and rutting up pretty bad. Current points leader
Trey Canard was third fastest, followed by Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s
Nico Izzi and MDK KTM’s
Ryan Sipes. Check out the top 10 below:
Ryan Villopoto – 50.325
Josh Grant – 50.438
Trey Canard – 50.934
Nico Izzi – 51.656
Ryan Sipes – 51.774
Branden Jesseman – 51.898
Ryan Morais – 51.961

The big development of the day came in the opening session for the premier 450 class. San Manuel Yamaha’s
Chad Reed immediately set the fastest lap time (50.515), but a mishap on one of the tricky rhythm sections sent the current points leader to the ground, HARD. Reed was escorted off the track and out of the building by the Asterisk Mobile Medic crew and was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. The last we heard was the he hit his chest really hard and was coughing up blood. Rumors are also circulating that Reed may try and ride at least one lap in a qualifier this evening to get a provisional start into the main event.

In the second 450 practice it was Team Yamaha’s
Josh Hill putting in some very smooth and solid laps aboard the #40 YZ450F. Almost every other lap we’d see a different name atop the leader board, but in the end it was Hill getting the nod with a 48.659 over Windham’s 48.820. Check out the top 10 times below:
Josh Hill – 48.659
Kevin Windham – 48.820
