Another Lites rider going down in Indy was Xtreme Motosport Kawasaki's Kyle Chisholm, who was running inside the top 10 early in the Lites main event before crashing. We talked to the Seminole, Florida, resident today to see exactly what happened.
Racer X: Kyle, what happened?
Kyle Chisholm: I had a bad start and I got around the first turn okay. I was just battling and trying to work my way up to the front. I rode really tight at Atlanta, so I was finally riding really good. I hit that little on-off jump and overjumped it a bit. It slapped my front end down really quick which knocked my left hand off the handlebars. The bars then knifed, kicking me off and they hit me right in my, uh, private area.
Are you okay?
I started coughing up blood, so they were really worried about internal injuries. I went to the hospital and they did Cat scans. I bruised my lungs and they said I partially collapsed one of them. I also have some bruising below my belly button. I stayed the night in the hospital and I got out at like 1:00 P.M. on Sunday and flew home. I also hurt my arm a little bit, but nothing is broke or anything and other than that I feel fine. I’m going to take it easy for a couple days and then go up and see Dr. Augustine on Wednesday and he’s going to check me out again and see how everything is looking, and then I should know then if I’ll be able to race this weekend in Daytona. But all in all I feel okay, just a little sore.
