Smith Optics Riders Cleaning House in Arenacross
Sun Valley, ID (November 15, 2007) - With the 2008 Toyota Arenacross Series only three rounds old, the team of Smith Optics riders is already putting their stamp of domination on the series. Led by points leader and Des Moines Saturday night winner Chad Johnson, the team of Smith riders has owned the podium taking five of the nine available spots so far this season.
It doesn’t stop there. North Carolina’s Tyler Bright took the surprising win last weekend in Albany, NY at the Times Union Center round making that a near perfect two for three for Smith Optics. Tyler’s teammate Jim Neese placed 3rd on the night and moved himself up to 5th in points as the series heads to Reno’s Livestock Event Center this weekend for rounds 4 and 5.
One person missing from the win category so far this season is 2007 Champion Danny Smith. He started out strong in Des Moines with a 4th and a 2nd, but suffered some bad luck in Albany by missing the main event. However being the Champion he is, Danny will look to rebound in Reno where he finished 1st and 2nd last season.
“I’ve made some unfortunate mistakes these past couple of rounds, but my Honda and team have been awesome so far and I don’t see why I cant get a win or two this weekend and jump right back into the points chase with my teammate,” said Smith.
Heading into Reno, Johnson holds a 15 point lead over second place, however only 8 points separate 2nd from Danny Smith, who currently sits in 8th. All four Smith Optics riders wear the Top Fuel model. You can find the entire Smith Optics line at www.SmithOptics.com.
