Recently crowned 2007 Outdoor Nationals champ Grant Langston leads a Spy contingent that includes former Open winner Andrew Short and last year’s Lites class runner-up, Jake Wiemer
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Oct. 12, 2007) – Spy Optic’s pro motocross stars will descend upon Vegas’ MGM Grand this weekend for the 10th running of the Rockstar Energy U.S. Open – the nation’s richest weekend of supercross racing.
Leading the Spy-backed riders in the open class ‘run what you brung’ event will be the recently crowned AMA Toyota Outdoor Nationals Motocross champion, Grant Langston (Yamaha). Joining Langston and running the latest Spy goggles – and Spy sunglasses when on the Strip – will be former ’05 U.S. Open winner Andrew Short (Honda) and last year’s AMA Lites class runner-up, Jake Weimer (Factory Connection/Honda).
“There should be a podium spot out of this Spy contingent for sure,” said Scott Sepkovic, spokesman for Spy Optics. “Langston’s been riding as fast as anybody and Short and Weimer have  been on the podium here before, so we’re definitely expecting a Spy presence on the podium at the 10th annual U.S. Open.”
Not to be outdone, Spy athletes contesting the open class format also include: Aussie Moto Des Nations team member Daniel Reardon (Factory Connection/Honda), the always tough Monster Energy/Canadian MX Nationals competitor Jeff Gibson (Kawasaki) and a guy for sure to keep an eye on, rookie racer Tyler Bowers (Yamaha of Troy). Bowers is especially tough in tight quarters/arenacross-style racing as he proved last year on the Boo Koo AX Series tour.
