9/14/07 - 2007 Australian Rookie of the Year, Kyle Tobin is back in the states after spending the last five months racing in Australia. After a great start to his 2007 rookie season in AMA Pro Supercross Series, Kyle was approached by Cool Air Racing Suzuki of Australia to participate in the Nokia MX Nationals down under. He joined efforts with new teammate Troy Carroll and team owner Kevin Crutcher to take on this task.
Last season, Kyle had auditioned and earned his position as the East Coast Intern for Wonder Warthog Racing/Lucas Oils Yamaha over dozens of applicants. Kyle was well into the Supercross by the time he received the offer to compete in Australia, earning a 13th place in his second ever AMA Pro Lites Supercross and a 16th place on the grueling Daytona Supercross Circuit. Kyle discussed his offer with WWR/Lucas Oils team officials they all came to the conclusion that going to Australia would be a great opportunity, which is what the WWR Program is all about, giving riders an opportunity to succeed and advance their careers
In Australia Kyle raced the highly competitive MX2 class and didn’t disappoint, earning an impressive 4th Overall in the series, 4 podium finishes and an Overall National Race win. Kyle was also honored the Top Privateer Award and Rookie of the Year.
“It was a great experience and opportunity to race in another country, as well as represent my country over there, but racing in the United States is where I want to be†states Kyle.
Kyle resides in South Georgia but is presently in California exploring opportunities and offers to race the 2008 Season.
