Damon Huffman to Race EnduroCross Series
Los Angeles, Calif. (September 11, 2007) - Pro-Motion Motorsports announced today that former supercross champion, Damon Huffman, will race the AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series. Huffman, the 1994 and
1995 125cc West Supercross Champion; the 1997 World Supercross Champion and the winner of the first U.S. Open of Supercross in 1998, retired from racing in 2005 to spend more time with his family, but is now ready to get back out on the track and explore the world of Off-Road racing.
"When you have been racing motorcycles since you were five years old, it's a little tough to get them out of your system," explained Huffman. Although I retired, I never quit riding. I have always enjoyed riding off-road and riding trials bikes so when the opportunity came up... I thought I would give it a try. EnduroCross looks like a lot of fun and gives me a chance to get back into racing on a limited schedule. Plus, there is that MMI $50,000 bonus... you have to admit, that is pretty enticing!"
Damon will be racing a Suzuki RM250 in the series. "I spoke to Mike Webb at Suzuki and they will be providing me with an '08 RM250," continued Huffman. "I'm pretty excited to have that type of support. Also MotorcycleUSA.com will be one of my major sponsors for the series. They will be covering all three rounds of the series providing pre- and post-race coverage - so that will make it fun for both me and the fans."
"We've been to the past couple of EnduroCross races in Las Vegas, and let me tell you, that is some crazy racing right there," stated JC Hilderbrand, Off-Road Editor for MotorcycleUSA.com. "To get Damon to come out of retirement and help sponsor him for this series will make for great editorial for our readers. EnduroCross is unbelievable to watch - lots of lead changes and great race action - it'll be fun to document Damon's efforts from race to race."
The 2007 AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series starts out in Denver, CO on September 29 then moves to Guthrie, OK on October 6. The final round will be held inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 17.
