Oakley Extends Sponsorship Agreement with James Stewart
FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. – Oakley, Inc. (NYSE:OO) today announced the extension of its sponsorship agreement with professional motocross icon James Stewart through the end of the 2011 racing season. Stewart, 21-years old, has been one of Oakley’s featured athletes since 1993 when he was sponsored at the age of 14.
The extended agreement includes eyewear and goggles, including the recently launched James Stewart signature model Crowbar® MX goggle. Stewart is one of the most recognizable two-wheel racers in the world, due in part to his success on the track as well as Oakley’s marketing and advertising campaigns that have placed Stewart in Oakley retailers worldwide.
“James has played a major role in the development of our goggles throughout the years – his success on the track has been truly remarkable yet it’s his style and charisma off the track that sets our relationship apart from the normal athlete sponsorship,” said Pat McIlvain, director of sports marketing, Oakley, Inc. “Oakley has been involved in every one of James’ championships, both as an amateur and pro – we’re proud of what he’s accomplished and look forward to what’s next.”
Stewart has racked up an amazing 57 AMA Supercross/Motocross wins since turning professional in 2003. He won both the AMA Supercross and World Supercross titles earlier this year including 13 wins in the final 16 races. Stewart resides in Haines City, Fla., with his family and rides the #7 Monster Energy Kawasaki.
