Dunlop Wweeps Moto X Supermoto Podium at X Games
Buffalo, NY— Dunlop Motorcycle Tires is proud to congratulate Dunlop riders Mark Burkhart, Jeff Ward and David Pingree for the 1-2-3 podium finishes, respectively, in the Moto X Supermoto competition at ESPN's X Games 13 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Sunday, August 4.
Graves Yamaha’s Burkhart took the gold after slipping past Troy Lee Designs Honda’s Ward—the defending X Games and reigning AMA Supermoto champion—with just two laps to go. Ward’s teammate Pingree captured the bronze medal.
At age 46, Ward has seemingly discovered the fountain of youth in Supermoto competition but this year the 27-year old Burkhart, who currently leads the AMA series, has matched the veteran Ward’s experience with his own brand of racecraft, determination and endurance. Pingree, meanwhile, stepped out of the AMA’s 250-class Supermoto Lites series to ride a 450-class machine for the first time.
After a brief summer break, the riders will be back in action at the New England Supermoto Classic at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Conn. for round five of the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship, August 25-26.
