Monster Energy’s Kyle Loza Takes 1st In FMX Big Air
Kyle Loza sticks the landing on his avante-guard “Volt” body varial, judges’ socks roll up and down, give Loza the X Games gold by a mile
CORONA, Calif., (Aug. 3, 2007) – Monster Energy’s Kyle Loza became the first rookie ever to win the FMX Big Air gold medal, pulling – to a “T” – his signature “Volt” body varial high above the Staples Center floor.
“Yeah, I worked hard on that trick when everybody was focusing on back flips and it paid off,” said Loza. “Thanks again to Monster for having my back this year.”
Loza’s trick was bananas. And he could have pulled a Volt/heel- clicker variation if need be, but the other tricks weren’t coming close in the scoring – even Monster’s Scott Murray’s one-and- three-quarter double back flip attempt.
“I’m pumped to win the gold,” said Loza. “Now I’m going to chill and enjoy the rest of the X Games, pull for the other Monster athletes.”
Noteworthy: Loza’s Monster-backed teammate, Adam Jones, pulled the silver out of the FMX Best Trick event.
