Ben Townley may have gotten the overall win at MX338, but in each moto it was his teammate, Ryan Villopoto, setting the fastest lap time on his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki. And it was fast, as his lap times was within a half second of James Stewart’s fastest first-moto lap time. But you have to give credit to BT101, who posted lap times within a half-second of RV each moto, even though he was uncomfortable with the track.

RV was the fastest Lites rider at Southwick

It was business as usual in the Motocross class, with Ricky Carmichael setting the fastest lap in each moto on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450. He was four-tenths of a second faster than Stewart in the first moto, and over a full second faster in Moto 2. And check out the difference in times between the first and second motos for everyone. And, as mentioned above, Ryan Villopoto was within a second of RC and JS in Moto 1, but RC dropped the hammer down in Moto 2, and was over two seconds a lap faster than Villopoto. The second moto romp put an exclamation point on "Ricky Carmichael Day" in Massachusetts.
