Statistical Report

AMA Motocross Stats:

-First race May 29, 1977, with Tony Distefano winning on a Suzuki.

-This will be the 31st time the gate will drop for an AMA Motocross national in High Point Raceway.

High Point wins by brand:

Honda - 11
Yamaha - 8
Suzuki - 7
Kawasaki - 4

-First time winners at High Point:  Damon Bradshaw 1990 and David Vuillemin 2000.
-Ricky Carmichael has won at High Point the past five consecutive years (2002-06).
-Rick Johnson and Damon Bradshaw have 4 wins each at High Point.
-Ron Lechien has two career motocross wins, including a 1987 win at High Point.
-At Hangtown last week, Carmichael made his 123rd consecutive start.
-Last win by brand here at High Point:  Suzuki – 2006, Honda – 2004, Yamaha – 2001 and Kawasaki - 1996.
-Four different riders have finished second in the AMA Motocross point standings since 2000: Sebastien Tortelli – 2000; Windham – 2001, ‘03, ‘05 and ‘06, Timmy Ferry – 2002; and Chad Reed – 2004.
-Since 2000 there has been 84 rounds of AMA Motocross with Carmichael winning 71 times. The other winners are:  Windham – 4, James Stewart - 3, Vuillemin - 3, Tortelli – 2 and Ferry – 1.
-Of Carmichael’s 71 overall wins, 57 have been by sweep.
-Since 2000 there have been 168 AMA Motocross motos with Carmichael winning 133 times.
-There have been six brand sweeps at High point [when a brand whens both classes):  Honda – 1986, ’89, ’91 and ’97, Yamaha – 1991 and Kawasaki – 1996.

AMA Motocross Lites Stats:

First race, May 29, 1983. with Mark Barnett winning on a Suzuki.
This is the 25th consecutive season the gate will drop for an AMA Motocross Lites national at High Point.

-First time winners at High PointMike Alessi - 2005, Chad Reed - 2002, Kelly Smith - 2000, Scott Sheak - 1997, Timmy Ferry - 1995, Brian Swink – 1991 and Eric Kehoe - 1985.
-In 2000, KTM won its first-ever AMA Motocross Lites win when Kelly Smith won the overall at High Point.
-KTM now has 10 AMA Motocross Lites wins.
-Last week at Hangtown, Ben Townley became the 13th different rider to win his first-ever AMA Motocross Lites overall on a Kawasaki.
-Townley also became the 61st different winner in AMA Motocross Lites.
-Kawasaki has 105 wins in AMA Motocross Lites.
-Last win by brand at High Point:  Kawasaki - 2006, KTM - 2005, Yamaha - 2002, Suzuki – 2001 and Honda - 1997.
-Carmichael was the last rider to win back-to-back races at High Point (1998-99).
-Mickey Dymond is the only other rider to win back-to-back at High Point (1986-87).

The 31st Annual Kawasaki/Monster Energy National Motocross at High Point Raceway, presented by Centra Bank, runs Friday May 25th through Sunday May 27th in nearby Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Amateur motocross racing as part of the AMA Pro-Am Series takes place on Friday. Moto-X-Country racing takes place on Saturday, along with pro practice and timed qualifying. Pro racing is Sunday starting at 1 pm – rain or shine. Sunday’s gate admission is $30 for adults and $15 for kids 6-11.
