My First Bike...Scott Walters

When I was a kid my dad used to take me to the local Honda shop where we lived to hang out with his buddy’s. One year (1976) they had this red XR75 in the window that looked like the trickest bike you had ever seen and it was just my size, made for me, never seen anything like it, oh how I wanted one, and I would beg my dad for that bike for a year.
Finally, when Christmas rolled around that year I walked out to the garage to get my dear old dad the pack of smokes he asked for and found that red XR75 I thought I had died and gone to heaven! The next weekend I was racing at Spill Way Park against Jeff Ward. He won and I got 7th place but I didn’t care because I had the time of my life!
Years later as an adult, I went to work for Moto XXX racing and helped run the company. When I showed my little boy the pictures of me racing, riding, and working it just made his day. I still think back on that day when I got my first bike and I just get a big smile.
I love you Dad, Rest in peace!
