Townley trails Ryan Morais by three points, 114-111 – but leads in overall wins in case of tie-breaker; Lange in striking distance with 106 points
CORONA, Calif., (April 19, 2007) – The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is poised to make a run at the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series’ Eastern Region Lites title this weekend at Detroit’s Ford Field as both Ben Townley and Darcy Lange get set to boot up and race their brains out on Saturday (April 21st).
Townley has the best shot at point leader Ryan Morais. The New Zealander trails Morais by a mere three points, 114-111. As importantly, Townley has more wins on the season (three to Morais’ none), so in the event Townley wins in Detroit and Morais finishes second – the overall title would come back to the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rig even though the two would be tied in points.
“I’m ready,” says Townley. “Been counting down the days to this.”
Lange is also in a good position, especially to A.) Assist Townley in winning the race. Or B.) Take the win himself if Townley and Morais were to tangle in battling for the lead.
“It’s definitely going to be exciting,” said Lange.
Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is Round 14 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile/AMA Supercross Series at Detroit’s Ford Field (April 21).
