Deluge Sport Drink’s Ryan Morais Continues To Lead SX Lites
Deluge-backed Branden Jesseman (Motoworld/Yamaha) back on podium again this week with 3rd overalll; Moto XXX’s Summey 10th in SX class
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 26, 2007) – Deluge Sport Drink-backed supercross Lites class racer Ryan Morais (Yamaha) finished off the podium at Indianapolis this past weekend, but remained the overall leader in the Eastern Lites division of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series. Morais’ 4th place finish allows him a ten-point lead over the next closest competitor in the class, Ben Townley (96-86).
And keeping his hopes alive for the overall title was Deluge Sport Drink-backed Branden Jesseman (Motoworld/Yamaha) who overcame an injury suffered at Orlando the previous week – a race Jesseman won – to finish on the Lites podium in 3rd place at Indy. With the effort Jesseman moved into 4th place in the overall ESX standings – 22-points out of the lead with two races remaining.
“I’m still pretty sore from last week,” admitted Jesseman. “So I rode my own pace and did what I needed to in order to stay comfortable. I’m pleased to put my team and sponsors back up on the podium again this weekend and look forward to being healthy when we race in Dallas.”
Nothing spectacular in their qualifying heat races for Morais and Jesseman – just two solid 2nd place finishes to transfer to the main. And despite his injury, Jesseman was flying in the main, clocking the fastest overall time out of anybody – including winner Ryan Dungey – with a 46.429.
In the Supercross class, Moto XXX/Deluge Sport Drink’s Josh Summey again made the top ten overall, his third top ten finish in a row and fourth of the season. Summey’s in 15th place overall in the Supercross class standings.
continued to place well, scoring another top ten finish – his second in-a-row and third of the season. With the effort Summey moved into the top 15 overall in the highly competitive premier Supercross class.
Next up for the Deluge Sport-backed athletes is this weekend’s running of the Dallas Supercross at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas (March 31st).
