Reedy’s 2nd overall in the points and well within sight of points leader Stewart
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 19, 2007) – Unbound Energy Drink-backed Chad Reed (San Manuel/Yamaha), the 2004 AMA Supercross Series champion, made it 11 consecutive podium finishes on the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series tour, this past Saturday night pulling the $1,500 Progressive Direct Holeshot and racing to a hard-fought 3rd place overall at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl.
With the effort Reed remained in 2nd place overall, well within sight of AMA Supercross class points leader James Stewart, 260-231.
“The goal is to make every podium and we’ve been able to do that so far,” said Reed. “I made a few little mistakes early in the race and it cost me. But overall I felt I rode pretty descent.”
Reed made it to the main with an exciting 2nd place heat race finish behind Ricky Carmichael. And it was that momentum gained from his heat that carried his confidence into the main and an eventual podium finish.
“I was pretty off in practice, so I was glad to turn it around in my heat race and main event,” said Reed.
Noteworthy: Reed’s Unbound Energy Drink-backed teammate Nathan Ramsey suffered an injury two weeks ago during practice that has him on the sidelines indefinitely.
Next up for Unbound Energy’s Reed is Round 12 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Indianapolis’ RCA Dome (March 24th).
