Team GPS Uncasville Race Report

February 12, 2007 11:34am

The Uncasville, CT round of the BooKoo Arenacross series brings a close to an exciting season of racing.  Sitting in first place in the MotoVert Pitbike Pro Series, GPS Racing’s Brad Ripple had all the points that he needed to solidify his Championship for the year. The Two Brother’s prepared bike seemed to have all the power necessary to clinch the championship.

In the Arenacross series, Brad had a solid grasp on the third place spot, but needed a few more points to hold on to the 3rd position for the season.  After a weekend of mechanical problems in Minneapolis and fighting a sore knee, Brad had to come ready to race in Uncasville. The 21 year old from Indiana knew what he had to do to finish the series in the third spot. A 7th place finish in the AX Lites (250F) main event on Friday was all that Brad needed to finish the series on the championship box in 3rd place. Finishing 7’th in the 2006 series, Brad has kept himself moving forward and established himself as one of the premier riders in the series.

Jimmy Nelson definitely wanted to prove that he has all that it takes to run up font in Arenacross. “For his first year on the circuit, Jimmy did an amazing job and showed that he has the speed to run up front” according to Team Manager George Hodkinson.

In the Premier (450) class, Jimmy finished the series in 4’th place posting one event win.  In the overall Championship series, Jimmy ended the year in 7th posting two event wins.  To close the series on a high note, Nelson jumped out front in the Premier class capturing the $250 First Lap Dash award.  Nelson held-on fighting-off some fierce competition to claim the second position on the podium Saturday night.

Team GPS Racing/Cannon Falls Honda/ Club 24x7 would like to thank all of the sponsors who make this team possible.   Racing two events per weekend is tough on the riders, the equipment, and everyone who helps to put this team together.  Thanks as well to Mike Kidd and MKEG for putting on this great series to showcase all of this talent.  We greatly appreciate the efforts that everyone put forth to make this year such a success.  We already have some more ideas for next year and look forward to more bar-banging action in 2008.

Thanks to all of the sponsors for making this possible:
