Deluge Sport Drink’s Josh Summey (Moto XXX) & Kyle Partridge (MB1) shine at second installment of Anaheim supercross trilogy
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Jan. 22, 2007) – Deluge Sport Drink-backed athletes enjoyed their best supercross weekend of the year so far, this past Saturday at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angels Stadium scoring two top ten finishes in the AMA Supercross and AMA Supercross Lites classes of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.
“Josh (Summey) really stepped up and rode well this past weekend,” said Deluge Sport/Moto XXX Team Manager Allan Brown. “He’s had the speed all along, but ran into some tough luck qualifying in the first two rounds. So it was good to see him put it together at Anaheim this weekend.”
Summey, who snuck into the main with a 9th place finish in his Supercross class heat race, pulled a solid seventh-place start in the main and proceeded hold that position for much of the contest. In the end his 9th place finish would vault him into the top 20 overall in points (18th), even tough he missed making the main at Anaheim 1 and Phoenix.
Also making the main event for Deluge Sport/Moto XXX was Kyle Lewis. Lewis started 15th overall and ended up finishing 19th. The veteran currently sits in 23rd place overall in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series’ Supercross class.
Placing in the top ten overall under the Deluge Sport banner in the AMA Supercross Lites class was Team MB1’s Kyle Partridge. The Las Vegas native had a stellar heat race, making the podium and carrying that momentum into the Lites main event. In the main Partridge pulled a good start (6th) and moved into the top five on lap three. A minor sketch late in the race would cost Partridge a shot at the top five, but he held on to make the top ten easily.
Overall Partridge sits in 14th place overall in the Lites class standings, though he’s only made two of three main events.
Next up for the Deluge Sport-backed Moto XXX and MB1 teams is the Jan. 27th contest at San Francisco’s SBC Park, Round Four of the 16-round Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series tour. Last year at SBC Park Partridge placed 11th in the Lites class while Lewis finished 18th in the Supercross class.
