The 2006 Red Bull Last Man Standing is surely to be considered one of the most difficult and demanding races in motorcycle history. The race was a huge success for Christini All Wheel Drive Motorcycles! Chris Smith, aboard a Christini AWD250R, was one of only 11 riders to make the night show, and went on to finish in 8th place overall.
Christini Technologies entered five AWD equipped bikes in this grueling event and not one experienced any AWD system problems. Out of 128 machines that started the race, three Christini's made the mid-way cut off of 35 riders. Late in the race, Ryan Dudek was running in 4th place on a Christini AWD250X (equipped with a Thumper Racing 270 kit) when he suffered a chain derailment that set him back a full hour, ending any hope of a podium finish. Geoff Aaron, riding a Christini AWD250R was on his way to making the cut for the night race when he lost an oil filler plug late in the race & blew the tranny about a mile from the finish. Joe Giordano was running inside the top 20 on a Christini AWD450X when he had a transmission fail. Chris Smith was the hero of the day with his top 10 finish.
We are very pleased with our showing in this extremely tough event. The strong showing of the Christini AWD bikes in this torturous event, along with our recent outings in World Enduro, Endurocross, and GNCC, strongly illustrates the reliability and enhanced performance of our All Wheel Drive System. "All Wheel Drive Motorcycles are the future of off-road motorcycles, and this race goes a long way in proving that. We can't wait for next year!" said Steve Christini.
