"Duel at the Docks" Tinkers with Supermoto Surface Formula: Asphalt, Dirt and Grass
October 30, 2006 - Adding yet another aspect that makes this week's AMA Supermoto Final the ultimate challenge for riders, Troy Lee's track designers have elected not to remove the grass in Queen Mary Events Park and instead send the racers across the lawn before hitting the dirt berms surrounding the Moto Brew Beer Garden.

How long the grass stays green is anybody's guess, as AMA Supermoto Series leaders Jeff Ward, Doug Henry, Chris Fillmore and Doug Burkhart will be fighting through the course side by side with such aggressive racers as Josh Hayes, Ronnie Renner, Josh Hansen, and Danny Eslick. But the slippery surface is just one more wild card that makes this weekend's race one to watch, and one where the outcome is far from certain.
"The grass stays!" asserted promoter Lee.
Riders will have to navigate the lawn in Queen Mary Park
just before entering the harrowing Monaco Tunnel.
Troy Lee's "Duel At The Docks" begins on Friday, Nov. 3rd with practice sessions that are open to the public. Saturday the 4th will feature amateur racing in the NASMOTO (North American Supermoto) championship, with the AMA Supermoto Championship national final taking place on Sunday the 5th.
Tickets are available at www.troyleedesigns.com and at participating Southern California Honda motorcycle dealers. Prices are $15/Friday, $25/Saturday, $35/Sunday, or $50 for the whole weekend. Kids age 12 and under get in free with a paid adult using a voucher available at Honda motorcycle dealers. A limited number of motorcycles will be able to park in the Queen Mary lot, while those in autos will park at the nearby Long Beach Convention Center and take advantage of a convenient stream of shuttle buses and watercraft to and from the racetrack.
