David Vuillemin Confirms Participation at Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open
AURORA, Ill. (September 21, 2006) – The Rockstar Energy Drink announced today that David Vuillemin, 28, of Murrieta, Calif., will race in the ninth-annual showdown inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 13-14.
Vuillemin, who recently signed with Team MDK Motorsports, finished in second place at the 2003 U.S. Open. Since his professional career began in the U.S. in 1999, Vuillemin has earned seven AMA Supercross class wins and has finished as high as second overall in AMA Supercross competition.
“We are excited to have David on the starting gate,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of operations, Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open. “It has been a while since David has competed in this event, and based off of his results in 2003, he further solidifies the starting gate with the world’s most elite riders.”
Vuillemin is excited about the recently announced Toyota Trifecta at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, adding: “The Toyota Trifecta seems like a cool addition to the program. Hopefully I can take advantage of it.”
Vuillemin joins the growing list of confirmed riders at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open that includes 15-time AMA National Champion Ricky Carmichael, reigning Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP champion James Stewart and former AMA Supercross Lites champion Kevin Windham.
“The US Open is a fun race with tight racing,” said Vuillemin. “It's always fun to race in Vegas and a lot of good guys will be there. I will be on my new bike and it's going to be a good test for us because we won't have a ton of testing before that race.”
This year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will air on CBS Sports Saturday, October 21, 2006 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. (EST) and boasts the most competitive line-up ever.
