Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Troy Adams Leads the Team @ Washougal
Teammate Ryan Villopoto overcomes some technical difficulty in first moto to finish 2nd in second moto, gives up Lites class points lead to rival Mike Alessi
CARLSBAD, Calif., (July 31, 2006) – Troy Adams of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team put up his best numbers of the year on the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship tour, going 6-5 for 4th place overall in the Lites class on Sunday in front of another giant Pacific Northwest motocross crowd at Washougal, Wash.
Adams’ teammate, Ryan Villopoto, a hometown boy from nearby Poulsbo, Wash., and AMA Lites class points leader heading into Sunday’s contest, lost a ton of ground on rival Mike Alessi with a DNF in the first moto. But Villopoto then gained a bunch of ground back when he placed 2nd in the second moto. As it stands Villopoto now trails Alessi by just three points, 315-312.
Also raising some eyebrows for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/
Kawasaki fans was the return of Chris Gosselaar. Then southern
Californian pulled the holeshot in the first moto and led for a
couple laps. He made the top ten overall after being out with an
injury, going 7-15 for 10th overall.
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team returns to action in a couple weeks when the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship this tour stops at Millville’s (Minn.) Spring Creek MX Park (Aug. 13) for Round Nine of the 12-round series.
