Another Podium for Troy Racing's Andrew McFarlane
Australian Imports McFarlane and Metcalfe Wave Goodbye to Michigan Locked in a Tie for 5th in Lites Championship Battle!
VALENCIA, Ca. – Upstart Aussie, Andrew McFarlane, kicked his dream of winning an AMA Motocross Championship into high gear on Sunday, placing third overall in a star-studded field at historic Red Bud Track-N-Trail, in Buchanan, Michigan. The first moto saw the 2005 FIM MX2 World Championship runner-up pilot his Yamaha YZ250F in second place the entire moto, leaving a mob of factory talent behind to fight for the scraps. Teammate Brett Metcalfe continued to amaze as he worked his way up to seventh from a mediocre start.
It was more of the same in moto two as the AMA rookie McFarlane looked like he had been racing the venerable Red Bud circuit all his life, logging a fine fourth place in the moto and third overall, duplicating his season opener finish at Hangtown. Metcalfe was again seventh in the moto for seventh overall.
The famed Unadilla circuit in upstate New York will play host to the next round of the grueling series on July 16th. Currently deadlocked in a fifth place tie, the two stars from down under will battle each other and the field in their quest for the 2006 AMA Championship. With five rounds down and seven remaining, team Manager Dave Osterman's decision to bring McFarlane aboard the Troy juggernaut is proving to be a wise one indeed.
