Unbound Energy’s Chad Reed Back On The Podium Again!
A consistent 3-2 finish puts Reed on the box for the third straight
week, Unbound/Moto XXX’s Tim Ferry (7th) and MDK Motorsports’ Nick Wey (8th) also make the top ten!
CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 12, 2006) – Unbound Energy’s racers had a big day at the Southwick MX National, led by Yamaha’s Chad Reed – who made the podium – and Unbound/Moto XXX’s Tim Ferry and MDK Motorsports’ Nick Wey, both of whom made the top ten overall in 7th and 8th, respectively.
In addition, Unbound/Moto XXX’s Kyle Lewis and Juss Lansoo and Josh Summey all made the top 15 – giving Unbound Energy an impressive six riders in the top 15, Unbound’s best overall MX Nationals finish at the Nationals this year!
Reed, who’s currently 2nd overall in the AMA Motocross points class,
finished 2nd at Southwick – same spot he was in last year. Wey again put up some consistent numbers, coming in at 8th with an excellent 5th place finish in the second moto to make up for his 11th in the first moto.
But, by far, the surprise of the event for the Unbound Energy riders
was the comeback race for Ferry. The Floridian had his A-game going in the sands of Southwick, racing to an 8-6 finish for 7th overall.
“Definitely felt good to get back and race at the Nationals,” said
Ferry, who had been absent from the first two rounds. “I’m looking
forward to building on the momentum from Southwick at Budds (Creek) this weekend.” Note: Ferry beat champion Ricky Carmichael in a moto at Budds in 2003.
Also scoring well for Unbound/Moto XXX were Lewis (12th), Lansoo
(13th) and Summey (15th). Summey is in 9th place overall in the
Motocross class points chase.
All of the Unbound Energy-backed athletes returns to action for Round Four of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Budds Creek, Md. (June 18th).
