Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team Looks To Rebound At Budds Creek
Tough day for Kawi’s Lites class team as sands of Southwick takes
its toll on the defending AMA Lites class champion KX250Fs
CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 12, 2006) – The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will make its returns to Budds Creek MX Park in BuddsCreek, Md., this weekend – the site of AMA Lites class victories for Kawasaki in six of the last nine years.
This past weekend it was either feast or famine with the defending
AMA Nationals Lites class champion KX250F bikes as Grant Langston won the second moto, but was unable to complete the first moto. A similar fate occurred with hyper-fast Ryan Villopoto, who DNF’d in the first moto and finished close to the podium in 5th place in the second moto. Langston would wind up 9th overall on the day, Villopoto 12th.
“We had a part we were using fail in the extreme sand conditions,”
said Pro Circuit’s Mitch Payton. “This was my responsibility. The
part has worked for us all season long, but failed this past weekend.
We have taken measures to correct this problem and are confident it
won’t happen again in the future.”
With Villopoto (5th) and Langston (8th) still within the top ten and
both with a solid mathematical shot at the overall podium, action on
the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship tour resumes this Sunday (June 18th) at Budds Creek for Round Four of the Outdoor Nationals. Also returning for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will be Troy Adams and, possibly, Chris Gosselaar.
